Some states, Washington among them, treat information that could say something about a person’s health or body, including a scan of their face, as consumer health data, and ask for a separate notice about it. This page is that notice. It applies to everyone who uses Lark Dating, not only to people in those states, and it adds to our Privacy Policy rather than replacing it. Where the two overlap, the Privacy Policy has the fuller description and the two say the same thing.
Only if you choose to verify your profile, and only then: a few live frames of your face, captured in your browser or in the app, together with the profile photos you have already uploaded. From that one check we keep the result: whether you are verified, when the check ran, and which of your profile photos it matched. We also keep a record that you agreed to the verification notice, meaning the time you agreed and which version of the wording you saw. We do not create or keep a faceprint, a face template, or any other biometric identifier. Your profile can also carry optional lifestyle answers about drinking and smoking; you choose whether to fill them in, they appear on your profile exactly as you wrote them, and you can clear them at any time in Profile, Edit.
For one purpose: to confirm that a real person who matches the photos on the profile is the one setting it up, so that the verified badge means something to the people who see it. We do not use the frames or the result for anything else. We do not use them to identify you anywhere else, to advertise to you, to build a profile of you, or to train any model. Verifying is optional, and Lark Dating works the same without it.
The frames go once to Anthropic, whose Claude vision model runs the comparison for us. Anthropic may use them only to produce that result, not to train its models, and may hold them briefly for its own abuse monitoring under its standard terms. The result is stored with Supabase, which hosts our database. Both act as our processors, on our instructions. The badge itself is visible to anyone who can see your profile, because that is what it is for. We do not sell consumer health data, we do not share it for advertising, and we disclose it beyond this only where valid legal process compels us to or, in an emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical injury, where the law permits us to, as our Law Enforcement Guidelines describe.
We do not store the frames anywhere: they are sent for the check and discarded the moment it finishes, so there is no retention period beyond “not retained”. The result, and the record that you agreed, stay with your profile until you delete your account, or until you verify again, which replaces them. Deleting your account deletes them with everything else.
The result shows on your profile as the verified badge, and you can download everything we hold about you from Settings. You can delete it by deleting your account from Settings, or ask us to remove the verification result from your profile by emailing privacy@larkdating.com from the address on your account. Consent is asked for every time you verify, and you can decline; if you have already verified, withdrawing your consent means asking us to remove the result, which we will do. If we ever refuse a request, we will tell you why, and you can reply to the same address to have the decision looked at again. If you live in Washington you can also contact the Washington State Attorney General.
